Rykros is a so-called 'HIVE planet' that mysteriously appeared in the Gurhal system - supposedly by a dimensional warp. Since it appeared, unusual nanotransformer activity has resulted in mysterious places appearing and disappearing on the planets. In addition, a mysterious VR battle simulator has been found on the planet.
The area often referred to as Rykros in-game is actually Rykros RELICS. Rykros is a second area on the planet that has not been released yet. As a result, virtually no information is available on this area.
Rykros first appeared in Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millenium and lends itself to be yet another of the many references to the original series, though it is unlikely that PSU's version of the world is the same as the Ryucross/Rykros mentioned in the original Phantasy Star games.
