Skills are photon arts used by striking weapons. They are optional moves that can be attached to striking weapons and used in conjunction with normal attacks. Characteristically they offer alternate attack animations and have unique multipliers for Att. and Acc., though they also consume some of the weapon's PP. Skills, like all photon arts, can be taught to characters using skill discs, and are specific to a weapon type (for example: Rising Strike is for sabers). Only one skill can be attached to a weapon at once.
Most skills have extra combo hits. Typically, a combo is extended at levels 11 and 21. To perform the longer combos, simply hit the "photon art" attack button again after the first combo is carried out. Like Ambition of the Illuminus, in Phantasy Star Portable players will also see the visual effects of skills in various colors based on their level:
