Rod bonus
I think it's closer to 28% than 30%.
Shadow Taker @ 1377 = 3123
EPD @ 1366 = 3337
A little nitpicky, but then again double cannon has weird numbers too. Negative 02:57, 12 March 2012 (EDT)
- I tested this out last night to see what I could come up with. I'm a LV180 male beast, Masterforce LV20 (2,012 TP) with TECHNIC+ LV5 (+150 TP), an Eternal Psychodrive (1,320 TP) and Rod Damage+ LV1 (+26 TP based on the weapon's base power). I took off my line shield and all for the sake of having less numbers to fool with. This gives me 3,508 TP. I used LV50 Diga (310% power mod) against a LV1 Pannon which has 7 MST. (I made sure that the rod element was neutral to remove one more thing to have to factor into this.) Using this equation:
- (TP * (1.2 + additional rod bonus) * TECHNIC power mod - enemy MST) / 5 = damage
- (3,508 * (1.2 + x) * 3.1 - 7) / 5 = 3,244
- 13,049.76 + 10,874.8x - 7 = 16,220
- 10,874.8x = 3,177.24
- x = 0.292 = +29%
- So, you're right. It's just shy of 30%. If I have time and think about it, I'd like to try it out with some other TECHNICs tonight to see what I come up with. - EspioKaos 09:51, 13 March 2012 (EDT)
- Also, when I did that calculation last night, I started with a different formula. Originally, I'd included the modifier in the equation as a multiplier, just like all of the other ones. However, while I was expecting the modifier to turn out to be 1.3 or so, it turned out like this:
- (3,508 * 1.2 * x * 3.1 - 7) / 5 = 3,244
- 13,049.76x - 7 = 16,220
- 13,049.76x = 16,227
- x = 1.243
- A 24% mod. Even lower than expected, but if you apply that to the normal rod modifier (1.2 * 1.243), you get 1.492, which matches the results of the 1.2 + x in the first equation. So, technically either way is right, as long as you know how to apply the number to the equation as well as which equation you're using. However, it seems that the accepted method is the 1.2 + x way, so it's probably best to just stick with that. I'll probably end up adding an article link to the PA modifier template which will show how to do the math just to make sure people are doing 1.2 + x and not 1.2 * x. Also, I'm over-thinking this whole thing. D: - EspioKaos 11:55, 13 March 2012 (EDT)
Hmm. Maybe it is 1.5. The way I did it was to compare the two rods, and went with:
- 120% 3123
- ---- = ----
- x 3337
And came up with 128%. I was probably solving for the wrong thing. Although 1.28 x 1.2 does equal 1.536.
I tried it with 3,526 tp, no gas or armor + level 41+ foie with 282% power. And hit for 2,981. When I used the first equation, 1.5x total bonus multiplier fit right in.
You're numbers sure do look odd though. You should be doing 3261. Negative 14:30, 13 March 2012 (EDT)
- Ack, you're right! I... I don't quite know where I got that 3,244. D: I just tested again and came up with 3,261 vs. Pannon. For good measure, I tested against a Sendillan (13 MST) and got 3,259. Checked the math using 1.5 for the rod bonus and it was good. Also, I changed to Fortetecher (no GAS on that) and tested some more. Everything seemed to work out perfectly using a 1.5 mod. - EspioKaos 17:36, 13 March 2012 (EDT)
