Supervisor's Office

Player hadn't participated in the Winter Event

[Player] walks in and approaches Holupe Dence's desk.

  • Holupe Dence: It is a pleasure to meet you, [player]. My name is Holupe Dence. I am the Supervising Director of GUARDIANS Affairs, reporting to the president. I'm in charge of the mission records for all Guardians. I've read your logs numerous times, and I must say... you're really quite spectacular! I felt I had to meet you in person to see for myself.

Player had participated in the Winter Event

[Player] walks in and approaches Holupe Dence's desk.

  • Holupe Dence: Hello, [player]. It's been ages. It is I, Holupe Dence! Hm? What's the matter? Don't tell me you don't remember me!

I do.

  • Holupe Dence: Heh. Of course you do! I see you've become exactly the sort of Guardian I predicted you would be. You see... I've seen the logs of your activity since we first met. Hee hee hee! It looks like I was spot on! (shouts) Your record is very, very impressive. (normal) I'd love it if someone with your abilities would participate in my project!

I don't.

  • Holupe Dence: Wh-what?! Is this some kind of bad joke?! I am the Supervising Director of GUARDIANS Affairs, reporting to the president. Don't you remember helping me collect data for that educational training program? What's going on? Has so much time really passed? No, that can't be it. Maybe... Are you testing me? Heh. Well, I can take a joke. Heh. Of course you wouldn't forget a genius like me. Hee hee hee! Very clever indeed. I expect we'll get some interesting data this time!

[Supervisor's Edict]

Using actual combat data, we've refined the training simulation, "Protectors." I will explain how it works, so we would like all Guardians to participate.

Simulation Outline

  • Holupe Dence: Allow me to get to the heart of the matter at hand. As it was a rather recent occurrence, I'm sure you're aware of the operation that required the full concentrated efforts of the entire GUARDIANS force. This operation was in preparation for the unification point. Though I was somewhat worried about this being the new president's first large-scale operation, in fact it turned out to be a smashing success! I should have expected no less from the one Dallgun chose as his successor. I am quite pleased with the success of the operation. However, this is no time to become complacent. A threatened enemy can often demonstrate great strength in its will to survive. Our enemy is a horde of SEED-Forms. It is my opinion that we cannot be too prepared. (shouts) And so... (normal) In order to win the coming battle against our fierce enemy, I've plumbed the extreme depths of my wisdom to begin developing a combat simulator. "Protectors γ"! This is an improved version of my earlier training program. I have increased its difficulty level somewhat... It is targeted at top-class Guardians such as yourself. Please, don't hold back. I want you to show me what you're capable of!

Simulation Specs

[Protectors 1]

1. This is a mission created from the logs of past Guardians.

2. Results will be based on the number of scattered disks collected during the mission.

Rank C: 5 or less
Rank B: 6-7
Rank A: 8-9
Rank S: 10 or more

The maximum number of disks you can collect during a mission is 24. By collecting disks and clearing the mission, you will be awarded bonus containers based on your number of disks.

[Protectors 2]

3. Depending on the route you take, event-specific partner characters may join you. During this time, other players may be restricted from joining your party, so please take note.

4. You may take any route you wish. All routes contain the same number of disks.

5. It is possible to receive certain event items distributed in past event missions.

6. The mission will end if the party leader is changed during the mission.

[Protectors 3]

7. If all party members are incapacitated during the mission, it will be considered a failure.

Also, if a player joins while your party is fighting the final boss, and all players fighting the boss in the boss block are incapacitated, then regardless of the status of the newly joined player, the mission will end in failure.

This also applies in the case of any player left behind when the rest of their party uses the transport device to the boss battle.

[Protectors 4]

8. By activating the checkpoints in the VR: Entrance and VR: Main Block 2, you'll be able to return to them.

Also, if you go back one block from VR: Main Block 1, you can only select the final blocks in the complete A, B and C routes. You cannot select a route that is incomplete.

9. Some of the disks in each block cannot be obtained if you are not using goggles. When you accept the mission, please be sure you have goggles.

[Protectors 5]

"γ" VR: Block B-b only

10. Please stop the progression of the creatures in the area. The blue area in your radar is the area to defend. If you allow creatures to invade the area, the defense area will turn turn red. For every three seconds that a defense area remains red, the defense gauge on the bottom right side of the screen will decrease by one. When all 10 pieces have gone, you will have failed to defend the area. When this happens, the area will explode, so be careful.

Chat

Of course I did!

  • Holupe Dence: Excellent answer. I've reviewed your records, you see. Your work in this mission was exemplary, as always. And above all... I perfectly executed my duties by providing you with support info! Hee hee hee!

Did you?

  • Holupe Dence: Huh? Me? I was fighting in a different way than you on the front lines. As it was a concentration of all the GUARDIANS forces, with all the documents and materials that were coming my way, I didn't get a moment of rest! (thinking) Heh... Heh heh... Hee hee hee hee! (shouts) There's no problem too large for me to overcome! (normal) Hm... By the way, on a different note, I was feeling tired the other day, so I had some light maintenance work done at GRM. After it was completed, I noticed there was a single screw laying on my bedside. The GRM researcher said it was just a spare part...

Holupe Dence: Has that sort of thing ever happened to you? Holupe Dence: He seemed a little confused, flustered even, and refused to meet my gaze.
I must say, I did find it somewhat disturbing.
