SEED-Zoma
SEED-Zoma are root-like formations which protrude from the ground surrounding SEED cores. They act as a sort of power source for the SEED core, helping to maintain its protective barrier called a Blewme. Once all of a core's Zoma have been purified, the Blewme will wither away, leaving the core vulnerable to normal attacks. There are three known types of Zoma, fire, ice and dark, each of which has its own unique method of purification.
Fire-type SEED-Zoma
Fire-type SEED-Zoma are invisible to the normal visual spectrum, meaning that you must locate them with your goggles before you can begin your assault. Once located, fire your Photon Eraser at the Zoma until it turns a grayish color. At this point, the Zoma can be destroyed. After all of a core's Zoma have been purified, the fire SEED-Blewme will wither away, exposing the core.
During Operation Firebreak, a massive type of Zoma, called a SEED-Gozoma, was discovered. Purification of Gozoma is fundamentally identical to normal Zoma, however instead of only requiring one Photon Eraser, three or more Photon Erasers must be fired at them simultaneously to eradicate them. Only fire-type Gozoma are known to exist.
Ice-type SEED-Zoma
Ice-type SEED-Zoma are visible to the naked eye, however they require a special tool called a Photon Reflector in order to purify them. Furthermore, the Photon Reflector requires an external power source in order to do any damage to an ice Zoma. Using your goggles, search the ground around the Zoma for a naturally-occurring fountain called a photon spot. Standing on this point will provide your Reflector with the energy it needs to purify the Zoma. Repeat this process until all Zoma are purified and the Blewme withers away to expose the SEED core.
Dark-type SEED-Zoma
No special equipment is required to purify dark-type SEED-Zoma; all that's needed is a little teamwork! Dark Zoma produce a pyramid-shaped protective barrier around themselves which will absorb all attacks. At the three vertices of the base are areas called photon points. By standing on these points, you can disrupt the barrier's power supply, leaving the Zoma vulnerable to normal attacks. Once the barrier has been disrupted, though, you've got to act fast! The SEED-Zoma will detect the disruption and react (after roughly 10 seconds) by emitting a blast which will not only injure anyone within its radius, but also increase the dark contamination level of the area. If the Zoma was not destroyed before its defensive blast, its barrier will strengthen so that it cannot be disrupted again, making it impossible to purify.
