Bruce's Dungeon is the first Party Mission introduced to Phantasy Star Universe, and currently the only available party mission on the English PC/PS2 and Xbox 360 servers. It requires a team of 2-5 players (the 6th is a slot taken up by an NPC attached to the party leader), and the focus is on teamwork and planning to clear two blocks within designated times to bring the NPC to the mission destination.
The mission is initiated from the Moatoob GUARDIANS Branch, making it the first and (currently) only mission available from a GUARDIANS Branch. As expected, it contains typical Moatoob enemies - Vanda, Lapucha, Kog Nadd and Bil De Vear.
In addition to the combat and team splitting, the mission also contains minor puzzle elements: As a player ventures to find the mission's second door key, Bruce states (or does not) a phrase meant to provide a clue about which warp portal they should take to access the room with the key. Later on in the mission, players that take "the fence route" to find the second of two keys required for the third locked door are also presented two warps, the "correct" one also being based off Bruce's earlier phrase:
Bruce's Phrase | Warp Room* | Fence Route* |
---|---|---|
"The one-handed sword is easiest to wield." | Right | Left |
"My skills with a pistol were once legendary." | Left | Right |
"There is only one right answer. Which is it?" | Front (furthest) | Left |
[Bruce says nothing at all.] | Back (nearest) | Right |
- Directions should be considered as the player approaches the warps.
- N.B. Bruce will only say these phrases if the party leader is the first to approach the warps.
Furthermore, there are many points throughout the mission where players must co-operate when using floor switches in order to pass fences.
There are also some ceiling traps scattered throughout the second block.
To add to the challenge of the mission, Scape Dolls are not permitted - should any player or Bruce become knocked out, the mission is instantly aborted.
The incentive for completing this mission is a potentially extensive number of mission points, particularly for achieving an S-Rank. Teams that complete the mission with an S-Rank are also all rewarded with a Grinder Base relevant to the difficulty rank of that mission.

- N.B. As with ordinary missions, all enemies must be killed to obtain S-Rank.
- Interesting Fact: This is (currently) the only mission that features reskinned (i.e. Lv. 50+) enemies (Vanda Merhas in this case) outside of S-level.
General Strategy
- Since Bruce is attached to and closely follows the party leader, it is preferable to have a force or ranger class character as the leader, so that Bruce is not regularly close to the enemies, as he has a bad habit of dying from Bil De Vear spin attacks and Vanda Damfoie on higher levels.
- The maps below are the unedited maps of Bruce's Dungeon including all doors (after being unlocked) and keys (before being picked up). They do little to help as it is not shown which keys open which doors, and often ground connected on the map is often unconnected in the mission itself. However from these a suitable "map" guide could be made in the future.
