Talk:Line shield boards

Not to be overly bossy with the commets lately, but:
- Wouldn't this be better off unified with the Line shields article, i.e. leaving the prices to the (linked) articles of the shields themselves?
- At the site's recommended 1024x768 the table may fit without the need for rowspans.
- Failing that, the comments section as used by the Line shields article to show set bonuses or racial starting gear may not be required, freeing up the remaining space.
- If after all that rowspan is still required, I'm not entirely certain about colspan on the second row for shields with only 3 ingredients.

- I'm pretty fond of having a separate article that lists boards, but I'm willing to try it out. Is this what you mean as far as how it should look?
Rank | Name | Maker | Def. | Eva. | Ment. | End. | Slots | Req. | Ele. | Ver. | Board name | Required materials | Uses | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
H | A | B | E | ||||||||||||||
1★ | Carline | | rowspan="2" | 14 | 27 | 17 | 0 | - | - | - | - | 5 | [B] Carline | ???-photon x3 | Acenaline x1 | 5 | |||
Nanosilica x1 |
- Board name might be redundant, but aren't there certain line shields where the name on the board they require is slightly different from the finished product? I know there are some weapons like that, but I'm not certain about line shields. Anyway, I think it looks... strange. There's just a lot of open space in the cells due to the rowspan. I could put the third ingredient to the right of the first two, but that'd be pushing it as far as our recommended resolution goes. And then we'd have to find a nice looking way to display the fourth ingredient for the line shields that have one. - EspioKaos 19:17, 23 December 2007 (CST)
- Actually, no, I meant more like:
Rarity | Name | Required materials | Uses | Ver. | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1★ | [B] Carline | ???-photon x3 | Acenaline x1 | Nanosilica x1 | - | 5 | |
[B] Lightline | ???-photon x3 | Acenaline x1 | Nanosilica x2 | - | 5 | ||
Rarity | Name | Required materials | Uses | Ver. | |||
8★ | [B] Rabol Rappy | Gra-photon x15 | Vestaline x25 | Metaresin x35 | Rappy Feather x8 | 3 |
- Edit: Incidentally - though this doesn't just apply to line shields - I believe the game uses "Rarity" as a catch-all term for star value, as displayed in the shop search. - Miraglyth 19:59, 23 December 2007 (CST)
- Double-Edit: Aaaah, I see what you meant. Sorry, when I said "Unified with the Line shields article" I meant by using a similar format and leaving the prices/available to the individual articles. Not literally combining the two ^^ - poor choice of wording on my part. - Miraglyth 20:10, 23 December 2007 (CST)
- Oh, I see! XD One thing that I wish wiki format would allow is for table columns to have odd numbers of cells but not require them to all line up on the same vertical axis. For example, it'd be great if we could have the ingredients column have three cells evenly spaced across on those that need it and then four for the others. I believe in HTML you could make the three cell row evenly span the entirety of the four cell row so that you'd have even spaced cells. I've tried that in wiki, and the cells always turn out oddly spaced or sized. Of course, there may very well be some code I'm missing that would fix that problem. If so, it'd be ideal for these tables. Anyway, we probably should save this for a later day. Right now we should try to focus our efforts on the new navigation system. (I'm bad about sidetracking myself sometimes.) - EspioKaos 20:47, 23 December 2007 (CST)
- It might be doable if you make use of colspan=12 for the "Required materials" cells and then colspan=3 for the 4-material entries and colspan=4 for the 3-material entries... :P But to be honest, the first three materials correlate throughout the shields, so to me it does make sense to leave the fourth empty when there's no "extra" ingredient. - Miraglyth 21:01, 23 December 2007 (CST)
- Good point. I never thought of it that way. - EspioKaos 21:14, 23 December 2007 (CST)
