Prologue
GRM is the only enterprise in the Gurhal System allowed to manufacture CASTs. Soon after Ethan Waber led an assault on the HIVE, back when few had ever heard of the Illuminus... GRM was busy developing a next-generation, all-purpose CAST model. It was endowed with communication abilities that far surpassed those of other CAST models. The standard education curriculum, however, proved inadequate in helping it to reach its full potential. As a result, GRM sought assistance from the GUARDIANS in order to provide a more practical and thorough education program. This story takes place soon after [Player] graduated from the training school, before meeting instructor Laia Martinez.

First time
- Charly Arl: Ah, it's nice to meet you. My name is Charly Arl, and I'm the head of this project. You're [Player], is that correct? You came highly recommended by the GUARDIANS, despite having only recently graduated from training school. Thank you for accepting my commission. Well, allow me to cut to the chase and explain the mission. My project to develop the next-generation CAST has been a success. This CAST has specs that far out match any previous model. Most notable is its high level of communication ability, something other current CAST models lack. However, after completing its basic education curriculum, those abilities have not yet developed. Now we hope to develop those abilities by repeatedly completing practical combat training with the GUARDIANS. Oh, you haven't met Vivienne yet, have you? Vivienne, please come here.
([Player] and Charly Arl turn left to see Vivienne seated at a table. Vivienne approaches.)
- Vivienne: Greatings. I am Vivienne.
- Charly Arl: Vivienne is the prototype of GRM's next-generation CAST. [Player], we would like you to accompany her on a combat training simulation, in the hopes that you can help her learn to comminicate in a proper manner. However, there is no need for you to teach her how to talk. Rather, please just converse with her as you would anyone else. By doing so, eventually her communication abilities should be able to develop on their own. The more she opens up, the better. Think of her like a newborn baby. Everything is new to her right now. During training, when she asks you a question, answer accordingly. By conversing with you, her communication abilities should gradually develop. Oh, and please do not mislead or misinform her.
- Vivienne: ...
- Charly Arl: Now, about the combat training simulator, the GCS... It was developed for the Alliance Military, with the goal of increasing soldiers' combat skills, but as its difficulty was rather high, the GCS was shelved. But to get back to my story... There wasn't time in our schedule to develop a new program. Though it might not be as big a problem for a top GUARDIANS rookie such as yourself, for someone like Vivienne, with no combat experience, it would be a hopeless endeavor. Well, the important thing now is to build up her communication abilities, so her combat training is of lesser importance. However... Please note that compensation will be based on your simulation score.
- [Mission Briefing]
- This is a single-player, high-difficulty mission. Your goal is to clear all four stages.
- If the party leader is incapacitated, the trial is over and your score will be calculated. If Vivienne is incapacitated, there will be no effect on the trial score.
- Answer her questions, and by replaying the mission multiple times, her communication skills will develop.
- Charly Arl: Good luck in your mission.
- Vivienne: Yes

Obtaining S rank with level 3 personality "love"
- Charly Arl: You have completed the GCS. Well done.
- Vivienne: Thank you.
- Charly Arl: Let's see, your rating is
- Charly Arl: Congratulations on clearing the simulation! To be honest, I thought it was a virtually impossible task. It goes without saying that you have earned your S ranking. The GUARDIANS are really something, and you especially so. I am very glad we have someone like you here helping Vivienne. Do you have any thoughts on this, Vivienne?
- Vivienne: An S rank! With you by my side, I knew it was only a matter of time. And I tried my best as well.
(Dr. Charly Arl point Vivienne to her station, she goes there)
- Charly Arl: By the way, how has Vivienne been recently? I hope you don't mind me saying... I think she might rely on you too much, [player name]. Please don't be so easy on her. She needs to learn to stand on her own two feet. I didn't think she would become so attached to you. Oops, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to keep you. *Ahem* <...> Please continue to train with her when you can. I hope to see you again soon.
- Vivienne: I'm looking forward to next time.
Obtaining C rank with level 4 personality "love"
- Vivienne: Oh no... It must have been my fault. I'm sure you couldn't focus on combat because I'm so unreliable. And... well... You had to listen to all my silly questions, too.
- Charly Arl: ... Well, as you can probably glean from Vivienne's demeanor, your rank is C.
- Vivienne: I knew it. Oh... I am very sorry.
(Dr. Charly Arl asks how Viviennes been and states it looks like she loves you, then sees you off. Vivienne waves goodbye.)
Memory wipe imminent with level 4 personality "love", S rank
- Charly Arl: You have completed the GCS. Well done!
- Vivienne: ...
- Charly Arl: Let's see, [player name]... Your rank is S (to Vivienne) ... Vivienne?
- Vivienne: ...
- Charly Arl: (to Vivienne) Vivienne... Vivienne!
- Vivienne: ...
- Charly Arl: (to Vivienne) (shouts) Vivienne!
- Vivienne: Oh. Yes?
- Charly Arl: Finally, you notice me. What is the matter, Vivienne? You seem as if you're somewhere else today.
- Vivienne: What? Do I? I am fine.
- Charly Arl: You mustn't lie. Something is clearly amiss. If there's something wrong, please, let's talk about it. That will make you feel better.
- Vivienne: Oh? But...
- Charly Arl: Don't you agree, [player name]?
[Join the discussion.]
- *Charly Arl: [player name] agrees, too. You shouldn't ignore acts of kindness.
- *Vivienne: All right.
[Nod.]
- ()
- Vivienne: I... I overheard some of the researchers talking earlier. They seemed to think that, once I've reached a certain level of development in this training, part of my knowledge and... and my experiences with [player name]... would be erased from my memory banks. Is what I heard true?
- Charly Arl: ... Yes. I'm afraid that it is true. I planned to tell the both of you about this, but it looks as if you've discovered it on your own.
- Vivienne: How... It's terrible! Wiping out everything... All that's been done for me... [player name]...
- Charly Arl: I know, and I understand why you're upset about it. But Vivienne... You know what kind of purpose you've been created for, do you not?
- Vivienne: (shouts) But...
- Charly Arl: (shouts) Vivienne! (normal) Don't be unreasonable, Vivienne. I must apologize to you too, [player name]. This was decided from the start. I suppose I should have told you sooner.
[Consent.]
- ()
[Don't consent.]
- *Vivienne: [player name]...
- *Charly Arl: You won't consent? I see. Please, allow me to explain the reasoning here. Vivienne is GRM's technologically advanced, next-generation model. Truly, a beacon of hope. She will be expected to perform her duties in a variety of locations. Were she to have biases towards any individuals... Well, that would be extremely risky. And in fact, that possibility has become a reality. I am extraordinarily happy that her emotional development has come this far. Though, how can I put this? I am fully aware of how... ethically objectonable this may be. However, Vivienne is the future of GRM... No, the future of Gurhal! And that is no exaggeration.
- *Vivienne: I am a CAST. I fully comprehend the merits of what you are saying. But I am not pleased about this at all.
- [We will meet again]
- *Vivienne: You don't know that. You can't know the future. There is no way. And besides, even so... I will have forgotten you. Won't you miss me?
- *Charly Arl: I'm sorry, but my hands are tied here. This is classified information, but I will tell you about our plans for Vivienne. Nothing has been decided for certain yet, but the GUARDIANS are a possible candidate.
- *Vivienne: Oh?
- *Charly Arl: They are the leading candidate, in fact. You are to keep this information under your hats, the both of you.
- *Vivienne: All right.
- *Charly Arl: Now it goes without saying, but [player name], if sometime after training, you were to run into Vivienne, you must behave as if you don't know her. If you were to break this promise, I will speak to the GUARDIANS President to ensure that there will be significant repercussions for you. I hope you understand the gravity of this situation. If, however, some miracle were to occur and she were to remember you... That would be something entirely beyond your control or mine.
[A miracle will happen.]
- ()
[We will make a miracle.]
- *Vivienne: Yes. Miracles don't just happen. People make them happen.
- *Charly Arl: ... (thinking) Well, that's that. I'd better tell them to do a thorough wiping of her memory. And I'll need to make the arrangements within the GUARDIANS so that [player name] and Vivienne never cross paths. I may be overthinking this, but I should still report it to that woman... (normal) So, are you feeling better about all this, Vivienne?
- *Vivienne: Yes, somewhat.
- *Charly Arl: Well, above all, I just want you to have no problems. And besides, there is still training to be done. That means you too, [player name].
Dangerous rooms
- Vivienne: The room ahead is especially dangerous. I'd just get in your way, so I will wait here.[5]
- Vivienne: It looks like the coast is clear. I'm sorry to be of so little help.
Recovering from incapacitation
Level 3
- Vivienne: I'm sorry. Are you mad at me?
Level 4
- Vivienne: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to slow you down.
