??? wood is actually the name of a placeholder in certain boards indicating that different types of wood that can be used to make an item. The most common case of this is when a board will accept Kubara Wood in place of it's original wood type.

Using Kubara Wood as a replacement wood will change the synthesized item to it's Kubara brand counterpart with a different name, appearance, and different stats. The success rate of the weapon may also go down.
