Here's an idea. With all the basic weapons, 1~6 stars, why doesn't each weapon class have it's own single page. It'd cut back on having over 30 pages for these generic weapons. Weapon stuff

Ok, so I posted an idea of how I think we should format weapon pages. Pages for other items would be similar in formatting I guess.

Pros of this system

  • It's a lot neater than the current one
  • Easier to find info
  • Formatted to include practically any relevant info, and anyone who has lernd2wiki can expand on it. If all pages were like this PSUpedia would be better than PSOW... well, if it wasn't for the slowness >_>
  • Multiple images thanks to the gallery at the bottom of the article.

Cons of this system

  • Not templatized, and I doubt it ever will be, so not as easy to use as the current system.
  • A pain to write out
  • Still not sure about the colours, oh well.

Give feedback, anyways. Mewn 05:05, 14 December 2006 (PST)

I like it, dunno about the colour coding, it does make it easier to read, though. It does present the information in a nice way though. Here's an idea. With all the basic weapons, 1~6 stars, why doesn't each weapon class have it's own single page. It'd cut back on having over 30 pages for these generic weapons. The only thing that changes on them is their colouring, kind of like on PSO. --JubeiSaotome 05:10, 14 December 2006 (PST)

  • I could templatize it if you want (though I disapprove of the competition XP). Anyway, perhaps it would indeed not be needed or worth it to continue on the individual item pages for now. Or is it? Could still include thumbnails on the item list pages for anything that doesn't look completely generic. - Tycho 05:41, 14 December 2006 (PST)
    • Heh, and I here I was about to go and work on the Machineguns ...

It's only been recently that we've gotten our hands on the A-Rank unique weapons. Before then, I used what information was here in PSUpedia to determine what 1-6* weapons to buy (or find from drops) as I was coming up through the levels. Having a table of grind bonuses or where the weapon (or its boards) drop is also handy. I imagine it'd be the same for any new player, so I don't really agree with the idea that weapons pages are not worth it or not needed. If someone can contribute information on that, why not?

That said, I do like the idea of giving some style to the weapon template. I'm not sure about the color Mewn picked out, though ... The table style we use for our character lists would work very well here, I think. Different rows could have slightly different shades to help break up the monotony ... Kind of like what you see on dot matrix paper. - F Gattaca 06:12, 14 December 2006 (PST)

  • Well, I'm not really sure it is a good idea to templatize it, if only because it may wind up being horribly complicated to code. As for whether it is needed to have seperate pages - I would say that if someone is prepared to do these pages (might not be me, mind!) then it's worth it. The point of this wiki is obviously to be as comprehensive as possible, after all. Besides, unlike in PSO, the 'basic' weapons are pretty important. I should point out that on the issue of weapons differing only in colour, 7-9* weapons look the same, but are grey/black/navy blue respectively.
    • A grind table is a good idea, and something I hadn't really thought of. Board drops may also be useful, and can be added easily.
    • As for the colour scheme, yeah, I kinda agree it sucks but I don't have an eye for colour. I knocked this up fairly quickly and spent most of the time buggering about with the positioning of the tables before merging the stats/NPC values/PM stats tables into one. If anyone wants to edit it and discuss it on here, please, feel free. Mewn 09:06, 14 December 2006 (PST)
  • Actually, I personally feel like any relevant information could theoretically be added to the more general item list articles; shop info could be shortened to a few letters, most items probably don't have many separate drops, and area drops aren't all that complicated either. Anyway, templetizing shouldn't be hard either way. Just replace all output (names etc you filled in) with template thingies (i.e. ). o_O - Tycho 10:47, 15 December 2006 (PST)

Here's the layout i've been using for updating monster pages. It's gonna take a lot to edit all these "Minor" monster pages.
