Operation Urban Defense (GRM・ヨウメイ・テノラ グラール防衛計画) is an event for the Japanese PC servers which began December 15, 2011, and will conclude January 12, 2012.
What if Gurhal were attacked by the SEED again? What if each planet's major cities were invaded by hordes of monsters, leading to massive battles on the home front? Wanting to head off a potential disaster, the GUARDIANS executive branch has devised a new urban defense plan to guarantee the safety of each city's citizens! Their plan... "Operation Urban Defense!"
In order to protect each township, not only will each Guardian have to strengthen their own abilities, but the operation will require some extremely powerful weapons. Event overview
Aside from putting together an improved city defense plan in the event of future attacks, Operation Urban Defense also aims to help GRM, Yohmei and TENORA WORKS develop new and extremely powerful weapons for use in just such an emergency. The event centers around two simulations, each of which contains three types of special chips. These chips, each colored to represent one of the manufacturers (blue for GRM, green for Yohmei and red for TENORA WORKS) can be collected to gather data which will help upgrade each of the weapons being developed. See the rewards section below for additional details on these weapons as well as the other rewards offered by the event.

The total number of monsters you and your party kill in each of the event missions is tracked on the official event site. Panels featuring rewards to be issued following the end of the event are unlocked by the cumulative monster kill count reaching predetermined goals.

Individual rewards
Individual points can be earned based on the number of monsters you and your party defeat in the event missions. After accumulating a lot of these points, speak with Clamp Manyel at Urban Defense to trade them in for new weapons and equipment.
Weapon rewards
As you collect the blue, green and red chips scattered throughout the event missions, each weapon manufacturer will use them toward upgrading the new weapons that they are designing. The total number of chips collected will determine the final stats of each weapon when they are distributed after the event has ended. Each weapon has three main upgrade goals, but once enough chips have been collected to surpass the final goal, that weapon will begin earning bonus upgrades! The final stats of any weapons that gain bonus upgrades will be announced after the event has ended.
