Ultimate Photon Arts

Hey, I was looking around the site for perhaps a page with the list of current ultimate photon arts available, and I couldn't find one? Has this been debated before or has no one thought of it? If they haven't would it be a good idea to make one? I have found the seperate ultimate photon art pages, but no type of category that they are listed under. -Neutralle 10:05, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

  • Photon arts are photon arts, so we don't have a separate page that lists only those which are received from the trade missions. (Sorry, but I refuse to call them "ultimate." XD) However, you can find complete lists of each PA received through PA Fragment trades on their respective trade mission page:
  • I hope that helps! - EspioKaos 10:10, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

Thanks, thats helped a lot =P - Neutralle 10:13, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

  • "Ultimate" is not a term used within PSUPedia articles as the game doesn't use it. Not once, and unlike other fan-names (e.g. Madoog) not even the JP version of the game uses it. For informal conversation, most will recognise what it means, but as a wiki I'd like to think we're pushing for accuracy. As for an article that lists them all in one page... I don't believe there's one anymore, but an old version of the PA Fragment article used to do it. That said, I wouldn't understand why the License mission articles wouldn't suffice. - Miraglyth 12:02, 14 April 2008 (CDT)
  • Sorry to go off-topic, but is that also why PSUPedia appears to try and have capitalization on the same words as in-game? I've notice this on quite a few different pages' history... - Neutralle 12:24, 14 April 2008 (CDT)
    • Pretty much. Unfortunately, the game is inconsistent with itself on occasion, so many times we have to come to an agreement on how we want to see certain words capitalized. - EspioKaos 12:26, 14 April 2008 (CDT)
    • Ahh well i'll try to remember that for future articles I may edit, or create. Thanks - Neutralle 12:27, 14 April 2008 (CDT)

PA Trading

Sorry I didn't post this in discussion before. I'm new to Wiki editing. Just wanted to point out that you can unlearn your PAs (I believe this was added with AotI, not sure) and the PA disc that's created from it will keep the level of the art. You can trade that art to another player and have them learn the moves from it, even at level 1 (provided the class they have doesn't cap the art's level). Didn't see this mentioned anywhere. - Mirai (Sometime in the early AM, 28 January 2008 [EST])

  • No problem. Welcome to the wiki!  :D This is something that was added with AotI, but just hasn't been added to the article. The entire article needs rewriting anyway, so once we get to that, we'll include that little bit of info. - EspioKaos 12:23, 28 January 2008 (CST)
  • Nevermind. Seems that only works for transferring the PAs to other characters on the same account through the shared box. If a PA is used (at all) you can no longer drop or trade the disc. Even if it's still level 1 with only 1% learned. Guess my testing wasn't quite conclusive enough. D: - Mirai (16:15, 28 January 2008 [EST])

Photon Arts Capitalization

As Miraglyth said, "Reference: The manual, page 9. "Arts" is capitalized." Amaury 20:07, 27 January 2008 (CST)

  • And reference pretty much everywhere in-game, it's not capitalized there. - EspioKaos 20:09, 27 January 2008 (CST)
  • Ah, I see. Thank you, EspioKaos. Amaury 20:10, 27 January 2008 (CST)

Skills, Bullets, and TECHNICS, oh my!

Been looking a bit at these pages lately, and some of the proposed redesigns for them. Just a question: why is there no uniformity at all between the three pages? As far as Skills go I'm personally kind of partial to this setup, which is nice, informative, and refreshingly simple. Then I go and see the TECHNICs page with all of its fancy colors, and one of the revisions like this one, and I thinking, "maybe this is a bit much?" I guess the point is, are the various types of PAs so different that they deserve description pages that are as different as night and day? -Sekani 09:10, 26 January 2008 (CST)

The tables themselves can't really be similar, as Skills, Bullets and TECHNICs are so operationally different (the only reason the existing versions are similar is because their information is somewhat lacking). It's arguably quite fitting that the actual content of the new designs is different in that respect. As to the presentation... that's probably not important yet. The priority is to get them finished, get them voted in and get them rolled out. - Miraglyth 16:03, 26 January 2008 (CST)

PA Videos

Saw that a user had placed links to videos of all the PAs in one of the revisions. How reasonable would it be to allow uploads of .FLV files (flash video, exact same format as youtube) to PSUPedia of these? It might be neat. :o

  • I don't think it would be good to put that kind of a load on the servers. Why not have links to corresponding videos (of much higher quality than what was linked to and reverted) put on each individual PA? I was thinking Stage6 because it allows downloading of the files themselves and in a much higher quality format than flash-based videos. I saw a template for the TECHNIC list chart a while back that had pictures included. It looked pretty nice in my opinion. If it was used for the Skills list, it could work.--Hiro 16:40, 27 February 2008 (CST)
    • Stage6 go boom. As for uploads, well, as soon as that guy gets around to allowing MP3s.... - Sekani 17:07, 27 February 2008 (CST)
      • Just read up on the closure notice. That's quite a pity, YT quality is pretty trash. If there are any other sites that allow free and actually decent quality vid uploads, I'd like to know. At any rate, if this videos idea gets support, let's (reluctantly) use YT?--Hiro 17:29, 27 February 2008 (CST)
        • I think this is the sort of detail that belongs in the individual articles for each PA, and not the more summary-esque articles such as Photon arts or Skills. As a parallel, note how Jukebox discs does not link audio samples, leaving it to the component articles for each disc. - Miraglyth 11:53, 28 February 2008 (CST)
